1. The Look On The Wedding Night
ZEE5 Original romantic comedy film Shukranu is set in the 1970s and deals with the sensitive issue of forced sterilization drive carried out during the period of Emergency in India. Taking you back to that era, the looks of the lead actresses Shweta Prasad Basu essaying Reema (Inder’s wife) and Sheetal Thakur playing Akriti (Inder’s love interest) are inspired by the yesteryear’s fashion! The former’s look is notably interesting and in her words, “I was thrilled when I was told that my look will be similar to Sharmila Tagore’s look from the 70s in ‘Shukranu. I have grown up watching Sharmilaji”s films and I always admired her. Adorning the chiffon sarees, bouffant hairstyle and wing-eyed liner look was all very exciting,” Shweta said!
In this first look, Shweta wears a shimmery silk saree, maroon in colour, with a thick golden border. She is donning the bouffant hairdo with her tresses parted from the middle and tucked behind in a puff. Complimenting her look, are a pair of gold dangling earrings and an elegant maang tikka. A small red rose pinned in her hair, the winged eye-liner and the red lipstick.
2. The Saree Look With Open Tresses
Shweta Basu Prasad gives out lovely vintage vibes with this look by the table lamp. She wears a white floral print saree paired with a sleeveless pastel blouse, orange in colour. Matching with her blouse are her glass bangles! She leaves her tresses open, which are twisted, tucked and domed at the crown of her head! She looks pretty in those gold hoop earrings! The mascara eyelashes add to the retro ambience!
3. The Frill Salwar-Kameez Look
In a scene from Shukranu, Shweta adorns herself in a pinkish-white salwar-kameez, with a fine netted frill piece at the neck of the kameez. She again leaves her hair open with front tresses tucked behind her ears. She pairs her simple yet graceful look with silver hoop earrings and red rose pinned in her hair! The light bindi and winged-eyeliner is her standard of elegance!
4. The Braided Hair And Jhumka Look
With the white chiffon floral print saree that we had seen earlier, Shweta Basu Prasad has changed her hairdo! She has french braided her front tresses and tucked them into the on-going bouffant hair at the crown! This time, she has braided her locks all the way down to her back. Her pretty gold jhumkas cannot get unnoticed! By now, her looks are incomplete without the winged-eye liner and red rose!
5. The Full Sleeve Blouse Look
In a cute scene with Divyenndu, Shweta Basu Prasad is seen in a floral saree. But breaking from the sleeveless blouse pattern, she has worn a blouse with mesh full sleeves. Her puffy hairdo, winged-eyeliner and hoop earrings remain constant. But this time, the rose is pink instead of red and we like it!
6. Bonus - The Look During Promotions
Promoting the project prior to the premiere, Shweta Basu Prasad wore this orange pastel saree with pink stripes on it. She paired it with a sleeveless blouse of the same colour and matched her bangles with it. The hairdo is bouffant and her earrings are gold hoops! She is recreating a famous dialogue, take a look:
