2. Attack on Pathankot Air Force Station in 2016

On 2 January 2016, in Punjab, a heavily armed terrorist group attacked the Pathankot Air Force Station which is a part of the Western Air Command of the Indian Air Force. It was a suicide attack and four terrorists were killed in the initial firings. A total of 7 security personnel – 5 Defence Security Corps, 1 IAF Garud Commando and 1 National Security Guard (NSG) were martyred while fighting!

3. Pulwama Attack on 14 February 2019

Pulwama attack is another deadliest terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir in which 40 CRPF personnel were martyred. The attack happened on February 14, 2019, when a Jaish-e-Mohammed (a terrorist organisation) suicide bomber rammed a vehicle carrying over 100 kg of explosives into CRPF bus. The Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed had claimed the responsibility for it. The police had identified the suicide bomber as Adil Ahmed alias Waqas Commander from Kakapora.

4. 2017 Amarnath Yatra Terrorist Attack

A mass shooting happened on 10 July 2017 when Hindi civilian pilgrims were on their way back from Amarnath Temple by bus. The attack took place in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. A total of 8 people were killed in the firing and at least 18 civilians were injured. The Inspector-General of CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) found Lashkar-e-Taiba (terrorist group) behind the attack.

5. Uri, Jammu and Kashmir Attacks of 2016

There was an attack by four heavily armed terrorists on 18 September 2016, near the town of Uri in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It was reported as ‘the deadliest attack on security forces in Kashmir in two decades’. The terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed was involved in the planning and execution of the attack.
