The ZEE5 Original murder mystery The Chargesheet: Innocent Or Guilty tells the story of the murder of national table tennis champion, Shiraz Malik. The drama in this series is run by women first because a politician, Ranveer, kills Shiraz because he wants to marry his wife Antara. Ranveer’s wife decides to expose her husband in court but changes her mind at the last minute.

4. Judgement Day

The Judgement Day is hard-hitting and disturbing series available both in Bengali and Hindi. Sohini Sarkar & Madhumita Sarkar play the protagonists, a pair of sisters, Diya and Hiya. Hiya gets raped on a visit to Kolkata, and Diya takes it upon herself to avenge her sister.

5. Kaafir

Kaafir is based on a true story and set in 2005, but is equally relevant today. This much accalimed series underlines how inter-state rivalries have hurt lives on both sides and how love really saves us in the end. Dia Mirza dazzles splendidly in the role of Kainaaz, a mother and a refugee.

This series stars Sakshi Tanwar, Mona Singh, Nidhi Singh and Palomi Ghosh in leading roles and breaks all kinds of stereotypes by showing women in powerful positions taking the country forward with their intelligence.

7. Badnam Gali

Ashwin Shetty’s directorial debut Badnaam Gali deals with the stigmas surrounding surrogacy. The film tackles the double-standards of conventional society for women through a slice of life comedy. Divyenndu also starred in another social-comedy Shukranu, also on ZEE5.

The Final Call on Arjun Rampal’s Karan Sachdeva, a suicidal pilot who is entrusted with the lives of all his passenger. Sakshi Tanwar plays the role of an ATS chief officer who tries to stop the pilot from crashing the plane. She also faces a struggle to prove that she is well-equipped for the task because people expect her male counterparts to be better.

9. Mentalhood

Mentalhood tells the story of modern mothers in the city and the pressures they have to deal with. The series tackles a number of current topics like bullying domestic violence and even the gender roles when it comes to parenting. This series has a strong female cast with Karisma Kapoor making her digital debut as well.

Hum Tum and Them is the perfect family drama full of emotions, laughs and tears. It sheds light on how a woman is somehow always blamed for anything that goes wrong in her life and is expected to not show even some semblance of independence and freedom.
