Mahalaya is a 2019 drama starring Subhasish Mukhopadhyay and Jisshu Sengupta. The film brings to screen the remarkable true incident from 1976 when Bengal’s biggest superstar, Uttam Kumar, replaced Birendra Krishna Bhadra for the iconic All India Radio show, Mahisasura Mardini, and the hue and cry that followed. 3. Ganashatru

Ganashatru is a famous drama from 1990, directed by the legendary director Satyajit Ray, starring Soumitra Chatterjee, Ruma Guha Thakurta, Mamata Shankar and Dhritiman Chatterjee. Ashoke Gupta, an honest doctor, finds an alarming spread of jaundice among his patients. His quest to find the root of this fast-spreading disease leads him to the contaminated holy water of the Tripureshwar temple in Chandipur. 4. Panther: Hindustan Meri Jaan

Panther: Hindustan Meri Jaan is a 2019 Bengali action thriller starring Jeet, Shraddha Das, Saswata Chatterjee and Sourav Chakraborty. A terrorist group seeking the release of their leader threatens to attack and destroy India. An undercover agent called Panther (played by Jeet) is called in to eliminate the terrorists and save India. Watch as he takes on this challenge headlong!

5. Jyeshthoputro

Jyeshthoputro is a drama film from 2019 directed by Kaushik Ganguly. Starring Prosenjit, Ritwick Chakraborty, and Gargi Roychowdhury in the lead roles, the story is about the Tollywood superstar Indrajit Gangopadhyay. Indrajit heads home after several years on receiving the news of his father’s demise. But will he welcomed back by his own, or do they harbour animosity towards him for his prolonged absence? The original concept of the movie was conceived by maverick filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh, and this one is a must watch!

6. Ramdhanu

Ramdhanu is a 2014 Bengali drama film starring Shibprasad Mukhopadhyay and Rachna Banerjee. The plot of the film revolves around Mitali, a mother, who wants her son Gogol to get admission in a reputed school, but her son continues to fail the entrance test. Mitali and her husband then join an academy that trains parents on how to conduct themselves at school interviews. Will Gogol finally be able to get admission in a reputed school?
