Amruta Subhash is a critically acclaimed actress who has been in the industry for almost a decade. She’s a graduate from the esteemed theatre institution- National School Of Drama. The actress has explored every artistic avenue like theatre, films, TV shows and even web series. Amruta has also made her presence felt in numerous Bollywood films. Her recent venture Gully Boy was nominated for the Oscars last year. Today marks Amruta’s 41st birthday and we’ve decided to celebrate it by going on a binge-watching streak of the five best films and TV shows on ZEE5 that the actress was a part of.

We begin with Killa directed by Avinash Arun. The film revolves around the story of an 11-year-old kid who is forced to adapt to new surroundings following his mother’s transfer to a small coastal town in Konkan. It’s a beautiful coming-of-age film of the boy who struggles to cope with the death of his father. Child artists Parth Bhalerao and Archit Deodhar received praise for their stunning performances. Killa did rounds in numerous International Film Festivals owing to the jaw-dropping cinematography and direction. It also won the National Award for the best Marathi feature film in 2015. 2. Ti Ani Itar

Released in the year 2017, Ti Ani Itar is a thriller drama that revolves around the story of an upwardly mobile Marathi couple Anirudh and Naina Godbole who live comfortably with their two daughters in a lavish Mumbai flat. All hell breaks loose when they witness a horrifying crime which turns their lives upside down. It’s a moral dilemma that the family faces on whether on not to save the victim. Apart from Amruta, the thriller also features Subodh Bhave and Sonali Kulkarni. Watch the film here.

3. Shwaas

Amruta made a splashing debut with the 2004 Marathi film Shwaas. It is based on the story of a grandfather who takes his grandchild to Mumbai following some problems with his eyesight. After coming to know that the child has retinal cancer, the grandfather takes efforts to show his grandson the beauty of life. The film was Marathi cinema’s first official entry to the Oscars. 4. Raman Raghav 2.0

Amruta has also featured in Bollywood’s psychological thriller Raman Raghav 2.0 directed by the acclaimed director Anurag Kashyap. It is loosely based on the real-life killings of a murderous psychopath named Raman who operated in Mumbai during the 1960s. The film boasts of a phenomenal star cast consisting of Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Vicky Kaushal, and Shobhita Dhulipala. Watch the film here.

5. Avghachi Sansar

Amruta also did a TV show on Zee Marathi called Avghachi Sansar. The plot revolves around Asavari (Amruta) who falls in love with a successful businessman Harshavardhan Bhosale (Prasad Oak). Asavari faces troubles when she discovers her husband’s true character only after their marriage. The TV show lasted for over 1000 episodes and was at the peak of its popularity before it ended in 2010. You can stream the TV show here.
