An actor known for his potential, John Kottoly has passed away. He suffered a cardiac arrest, early on January 28, 2020. John was last seen playing the role of Popz, an ad-guru, in the ZEE5 Original show Three Half Bottles. Earlier, the thespian rose to fame with his dark character in Chandini Chowdhary-led thriller film, Manu. His outing as Ranga Rao in Anish Kuruvilla‘s Gods Of Dharmapuri on ZEE5 won him critical acclaim.
The actor has impressed many critics and viewers alike with his powerful performances. Apart from Manu, John’s performance in Falaknuma Das, Yuddham Sharanam and Mahanatialso garnered him appreciation from the mainstream film audience. Not only film and web shows, but the actor also set new standards with his short films like Anukokunda and Sainma. He also won many accolades for his work, although not many outside the film fraternity know of them.
Apart from an actor, John was a diction coach, a creative director, and a graphic designer. Members of Telugu the film industry took to Twitter to share their condolences for his untimely demise. It was director Sai Rajesh who broke the news via a tweet, which reads, “Unable to digest the news about @JohnKottoly … Heard that he was passed away with cardiac arrest. Brilliant actor he is…”[sic]
Popular comedian-actor, Rahul Ramakrishna tweeted, “Goodbye @JohnKottoly Hope to meet you again, someday..”[sic] Director of films like Ashta Chamma and Golconda High School, Mohan Indraganti shared his shock via a tweet, “Shattered by the news of John Kottoly’s demise!!! John, what a great guy you are!!! And how much I will miss you as a person and an actor. Rest In Peace, my friend! I pray for strength to the family. This is terrible news.”[sic]
