Filmmaker AL Vijay and wife Dr R Aishwarya (a doctor by profession), who got married in July 2019, became parents to a baby boy on Saturday, May 30, 2020. While the lovely couple is quite excited to have welcomed this bundle of joy into their lives; overjoyed actor Udhaya (Vijay’s actor brother), took to the micro-blogging site to share the good news with his friends, fans and his social media followers. The actor wrote that he has turned periyappa now. He also tweeted that the child was born at around 11.25 am at a private hospital in Chennai.

Actor Udhaya’s tweet read, “Yes..IAM A PERIYAPPA now..Brother Director VIJAY And AISHWARYA VIJAY blessed with baby boy at 11.25am …Happppyyyyyyyy….Soooo happy…. @onlynikil (sic.)” Also, reports suggested that both mother and baby are doing fine and are in good health.

On the personal front, the filmmaker was earlier married to Kollywood actress Amala Paul and the couple parted ways in 2017. Then he tied the knot with Dr R Aishwarya in a close-knit ceremony, on July 11, 2019, with only close friends and family in attendance.

Ahead of his intimate wedding ceremony, Vijay had shared the news in an official statement, which read, “I am happy to announce my marriage with Dr R Aishwarya and it is going to be a private ceremony which will be held in July 2019. With all your love and blessings, I am embarking on a new chapter in my life! (sic.)”

On the work front, AL Vijay, who has directed many notable films like Kireedam, Deiva Thirumagal, Thaandavam, and, of course, the critically acclaimed Madrasapattinam, is currently working on the biopic of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayaram Jayalalithaa.

The film is titled Thalaivi and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut will be seen essaying the role of celebrated Indian politician. Besides Kangana, Thalaivi also stars Aravind Swamy, Madhoo, Samuthirakani, and Bhagyashree in essential roles. The film was slated to release on June 26 but has been now postponed owing to the COVID-19 outbreak. We can’t wait to know the new release date. Stay tuned.
